Everything on the canvas

A short tour of the tools, the selection model, and the keyboard shortcuts that make inkin.space fast to use.

Getting started

Open app.inkin.space and you land directly on the canvas with the pen selected. There is nothing to create, name, or confirm. Whatever you draw is autosaved to your browser as you go.

Tools

Pen

Draw freehand. Pick a colour and thickness from the toolbar. Hold Shift while drawing to constrain the stroke toward a straight line, and enable sketch mode for a hand-drawn, slightly wobbly finish.

Line

Drag from start to end. Hold Shift to snap the angle to 45° increments.

Rectangle & ellipse

Drag to size the shape. Hold Shift for a perfect square or circle. Shapes snap to nearby strokes and to the grid when it is enabled.

Text

Click anywhere to place a text box and start typing. The toolbar exposes font family, size, bold, italic, underline, and alignment. Press Escape to commit the text, or Esc again to leave editing.

Eraser

Click or drag over a stroke to remove it entirely. The eraser removes whole elements rather than carving into them, which keeps undo predictable.

Selecting and editing

Panning and zooming

Hold Space and drag, middle-drag, or use the pan tool (H) to move around the canvas. Zoom with Cmd + scroll wheel — the zoom is anchored to your cursor, so the point under the pointer stays put. Range is 10% to 800%.

Saving and exporting

Autosave lives in this browser only. Clearing site data, using private mode, or switching devices will not carry your canvas over — export a JSON file if the drawing matters.

Frequently asked

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile.

Where are my drawings stored?

In your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded. See the privacy policy for details.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the app runs entirely client-side and keeps working without a network connection.

Something is broken. Where do I report it?

Use the feedback form. Include what you drew, what you expected, and what happened instead.
